Long before flashing electric lights and delivery trucks, December in the North Georgia mountains was a thrilling race against the elements as survival and celebration went hand in hand. Far from modern commercial conveniences, historic mountain families relied on deep environmental knowledge, intercultural collaboration, and sheer creativity to light their homes, preserve their harvests, and pass down their heritage.
